i intend to use this section of my blog to make things easier for those who what to not only read my blog, but also would like a basic reference.
If you have a problem with Microsoft word displaying the carrage return symbol, just go to tool, toolbar, and click on standard. when you get your new tools, look for the carrage return symbol and click on it. it will remove all carrage returns from your document.
the carrage return is caused by hitting the return (inter) key; so avoid doing so.

in addition, if you see the index and tables toolbar disappear, just go to view toolbars, then outlining.
